What to Expect in the Building Design Process

Whether you're building your forever home or extending an existing one, knowing what to expect can ease a lot of stress. The building design process is a step-by-step journey tailored to your site, budget, and vision.

  1. Initial Consultation
This is where we get to know you and your goals. We visit the site, review the brief, and discuss the possibilities and any council constraints.

  2. Concept Design
We create initial sketches that explore layout, orientation, and style. This stage includes your input and is flexible to change.

  3. Design Development
Once a concept is agreed upon, we refine it—adding detail, adjusting room sizes, selecting materials, and checking it meets building regulations.

  4. Working Drawings
These are the technical plans required for council submission and builder pricing. They include elevations, floor plans, sections, and any detail the builder needs.

  5. Support Through Approvals and Beyond
We can help lodge plans to council or private certifiers and answer any questions your builder may have. We’re often still involved right through to construction.

By working with a building designer from the start, you're setting up your project for clarity, quality, and a smoother build.
